Load Shedding to Come to an End says ZESCO
Zambia Electricity Supply Company Brings an End to Load Shedding with a Commitment to Uninterrupted Power Supply
According to the Managing Director of ZESCO, Victor Mapani, the country will no longer have to endure load-shedding. Mapani declared that both households and companies can now expect a steady flow of 24-hour electricity.
The successful implementation of various measures, such as the restoration and upgrading of power stations, has made this possible. The Victoria Falls power station has undergone significant improvements, with 20 megawatts now being fed into the National Grid. Additionally, the Kafue Gorge Upper and Lower Power Stations have seen a boost in power generation, with over 150 megawatts added.
Mapani also announced that ZESCO plans to increase power generation at Lake Kariba from 250 megawatts to 350, due to the recent rise in water levels in the dam. Furthermore, the government aims to import 120 megawatts from Mozambique, pending the completion of negotiations.
Overall, ZESCO’s commitment to improving its power generation capabilities is set to provide the country with reliable and uninterrupted electricity for the foreseeable future.
