The holder of this position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the various Metallurgical Flotation Processes.
- Conduct laboratory flotation test work, plant surveys and plant trials.
- Interpret analytical results.
- Communicate results to internal teams and management via written reports and verbal PowerPoint presentations.
- Propose and direct investigations into technical and operating problems in order to recommend action and, where appropriate, adopt new scientific techniques and technology to improve process efficiency and product quality.
- Analyze operational data (plant data) to identify recovery, concentrate quality and cost improvement opportunities.
- Direct, motivate and develop metallurgical students/interns from time to time so that they make an effective contribution to the department’s targets.
- Assist with daily metal accounting duties when required.
- Adhere to the departments safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Hold a degree or diploma in metallurgy or relevant discipline or qualification acceptable to become a member of the engineering institute of Zambia as per Act No.27 of 1992.
- Computer literate with Microsoft excel, word, PowerPoint.
Experience
- A minimum of 1-year relevant experience in a plant environment is desired
- Strong analytical, data analyses and cognitive skills. Problem-solving expertise would be an advantage,
- Experience conducting laboratory flotation test work and working in an operational environment would be an advantage.
