Miners raise the problem of VAT refund to Félix Tshisekedi- DRC

The demands of a number of issues that hamper the proper functioning of the mining industry in the Democratic Republic of the Congo were reviewed during a working session which brought together around the President of the Republic, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, the Prime Minister, Sylvestre Ilunga Ilukamba, mining operators, some members of the government and the governor of the Central Bank of Congo.

The Minister of Mines, Willy Kitobo told the press at the end of the meeting, that it was essentially a question of discussing subjects that upset the proper functioning of the mining industry in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in particular those related with the value added tax (VAT), the involvement of the DGDA and the compassionate.

“We are awaiting for the conclusion of the commission for this issue to be effective,” said the minister. As for the question of compassion, discussions have continued and we hope that it will find a solution in the months to come, adding that we must make an inventory of everything. that was already done.

For his part, Louis Watum, the president of the Chamber of Mines of the DRC and the demands of mining operators have found a very sympathetic ear with the Head of State, whose openness and availability to them had welcomed their concerns. He added that since the economy of our country is based on the mining industry, they considered it necessary and essential to raise the problem of the freezing of the accounts to some mining industries, while asking that all be suspended. these measures are in order to ensure that there is a good business climate.
