MOPANI ATTENDS 7TH ZAMBIA-CANADA CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FORUM
Mopani Copper Mines PLC took part in the just ended 7th Zambia-Canada Corporate Social Responsibility Forum in Solwezi.
The event, which aimed to foster the exchange of ideas regarding CSR, community engagement, and sustainable investment, took place from March 18th to 19th, 2024, at Solwezi’s Kansanshi Hotel in the North-Western Province.
This year’s CSR Forum took place under the theme “Sharing Best Practices in Community Relations, Environmental Stewardship, and Responsible Business Conduct,” and brought together mining experts, traditional leaders, the Canadian High Commission, and other stakeholders.

North-Western province Permanent Secretary Col. Grandson Katambi (Rtd) officially opened the two-day event and called on mining companies to collaborate closely with the government in order to foster development within their host communities and the nation as a whole.
Mopani Corporate Affairs Manager, Ms Lorraine Tembo delivered a presentation aligned with the theme highlighting the company’s initiatives in its host communities, emphasizing Mopani’s commitment to complementing the government’s efforts in national development.
On the second day of the forum, participants had the opportunity to visit select CSR projects undertaken by FQM-Trident Mine and Barrick Lumwana Mine thereby providing valuable insights into the initiatives implemented by the two mining firms.
