New Interior Minister calls on mayors of Lubumbashi municipalities to build trust and stem insecurity

Fulbert Kunda Milundu, the recently appointed provincial interior minister in Nagorno-Katanga, convened local authorities in Lubumbashi municipalities on Wednesday (May 13th). The aim is to reflect on the ways and means to facilitate the control of the security situation in the still precarious Nagorno-Katanga.

Fulbert Kunda Milundu called on territorial officials in Lubumbashi to re-create trust with the population.

“The challenge is to hold people accountable and call for building trust with the people in order to win the war against insecurity,” he said.

The mayor of the city of Lubumbashi, Ghislain Robert Lubaba Buluma, as well as the mayors of Kamalondo, Kenya and Katuba, attended the meeting. A tour is announced in all the 7 municipalities that make up the city of Lubumbashi.

Lubumbashi, DRC’s second largest city, is at the heart of several cases of insecurity. Jacques Kyabula Katwe, provincial governor, appointed Fulbert Kunda Milundu to the provincial Ministry of the Interior in an interest to address security challenges.
