Newly Accredited Ambassadors Present Credentials to DRC President Felix Tshisekedi

This Thursday at the African Union City, three newly accredited non-resident, extraordinary, and plenipotentiary ambassadors presented their credentials to the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Felix Tshisekedi.

The first ambassador, Mr. Zsolt Mészáros from Hungary, is based in Nairobi, Kenya, where he has represented his country since December 2, 2020.

Before his current position, he served as Commercial Attaché at the same embassy from 2015 to 2020. Earlier in his career, from 2009 to 2015, he was Operations Manager at International Testing and Training Services LTD in Budapest, Hungary.

Mr. Mészáros holds a PhD in History, a Master’s degree in Philology and Spanish Pedagogy, and an undergraduate degree in International Economics.

Mrs. Signe Winding Albjerg from Denmark, the second ambassador, is a resident of Kampala, Uganda. Since August 2021, she has been the Director for Africa, Policy and Development at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Previously, she served as Director of Green Diplomacy and Climate since 2020. As a career diplomat, Mrs. Albjerg has extensive experience, having worked both in Copenhagen and abroad.

Her international postings include the Danish Embassy in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, and as Chargé d’Affaires at the Danish Representation in Harare, Zimbabwe. She holds a master’s degree in Political Science.

The third ambassador, Mr. Murad Baseer from Pakistan, resides in Harare, Zimbabwe, and is also accredited to Angola, Zambia, and Malawi.

A career diplomat in Pakistan’s foreign service, Mr. Baseer has served in various roles at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad and at Pakistan missions abroad since 2003.

His positions include Director General (2021-22), Deputy Chief of Protocol (2019), and Counsellor at the Embassies of Pakistan in Doha, Qatar (2018-2019) and Bern, Switzerland (2016-17). Mr. Baseer holds a Master of Science in Defence Studies and Strategy, as well as a pre-doctoral research master’s degree in International Relations.
