Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the North Western region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km south west of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for an experienced and qualified individual to be considered for the position of Hitachi EH4500/5000

Role Summary

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for daily operations of dump trucks under load and haul.  Your duties will include but not limited to the following:

Responsibilities

• Conduct prestart checks on the machine before commencing work
• Ensure effectiveness of heavy mobile equipment with focus on safety and productivity.
• Available for possible operational assistance on an equivalent machine as and when required
• Conduct daily machine operations in a safe and productive manner to meet LMC operating standard procedures.
• Ensure all standard operating procedures pertaining to equipment operations are followed.
• Responsible for safe and efficient operation of equipment during its mobility among the team
• Control and adjust machine settings (e.g., speed)
• Actively promote, monitor, and participate in safe working practices.
• Identify risks in the work area and use of correct controls.
• Not attempting any task unless trained, capable and competent to safely perform the task.
• Work under minimal Supervision 

Experience & Qualifications

• Grade 12 Certificate
• Must have Certificate of competence in electric EH4500/500 haul truck operations
• At least three years of experience in continuous operations in a mining environment operating EH4500/5000 haul trucks.
• Ability to interpret standard Operating procedures (SOPs) and manuals
• Good communication skills both written and verbal
• Self-disciplined with good record on work attendance/ Disciplinary
• Certificate of service from any recognized organization will be an added advantage.
