Oxair has developed a solution for inflating truck tires at remote mining sites
Australian company Oxair announced that it has developed a compact nitrogen generator that will help mining companies and other heavy industries operating in remote locations eliminate the need to outsource their nitrogen to fill the tires of their trucks.
In a press release, Oxair stated that its facilities offer continuous gas flow from the atmosphere. They also use Pressure Swing Adsorption, or PSA, a membrane technology that uses cheap filtration methods for an on-site nitrogen production.
Tires filled with nitrogen are more resistant to hot climates and freezing temperatures at high altitudes
The system can be set up to produce nitrogen for a wide range of high purity and flow requirements.
According to the Perth-based company, the generators help miners reduce their carbon footprint by eliminating the need to transport cylinders from an outside facility and back when they are empty.
“At Oxair, we manufacture nitrogen systems for the tire industry that are cheap to operate and require minimal maintenance after installation,” said David Cheeseman, chief engineer of the company.
“They are designed for durability and are user-friendly. Therefore, they are vital when tires can be difficult to change or maintain due to the location or application. ”
