Paladin Energy Celebrates First Uranium Shipment from Langer Heinrich Mine in Namibia

Paladin Energy announced on July 22 that it has successfully completed its first shipment of uranium since the restart of its Langer Heinrich mine in Namibia.

A cargo of 319,229 pounds of uranium departed from the port of Walvis Bay on July 12, destined for customers.

The Langer Heinrich mine resumed commercial production on March 30, 2024, following a maintenance and servicing period that began in May 2018 due to low global uranium prices.

The company is on track to meet its fiscal year 2025 targets, with the mine having shipped a total of 517,597 pounds of uranium between its restart and the end of the second half of 2024.

For the fiscal year 2025, which runs from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, Paladin aims to produce between 4 million and 4.5 million pounds of uranium, equivalent to a maximum of 2,041 tonnes.

Namibia has solidified its position as Africa’s leading uranium producer, boasting three active mines. The Langer Heinrich mine is 75% owned by Paladin and 25% by the China National Nuclear Corporation.

It ranks as Namibia’s third-largest mine, following Rössing and Swakop, which produced 2,920 tonnes and 5,318 tonnes of uranium, respectively, in 2023.
