President Hichilema Commemorates Successful Rehabilitation of Chingola-Kasumbalesa Road
President Hakainde Hichilema has officially inaugurated the rehabilitated Chingola-Kasumbalesa Road, marking a significant achievement in Zambia’s infrastructure development strategy under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
This milestone represents the first completion of a road project financed entirely by private sector funds, reflecting a prudent approach to safeguarding the national treasury, as highlighted by President Hichilema.
The successful rehabilitation of the Chingola-Kasumbalesa Road sets a precedent for future infrastructure endeavors, including the ambitious Ndola-Lusaka dual carriageway, showcasing Zambia’s commitment to advancing its transportation network.
With the road’s completion, travel delays and associated costs to and from the Kasumbalesa Border are alleviated, facilitating smoother trade and commerce, thus bolstering economic activity along the route.
Furthermore, the project was executed at a considerably lower cost than initially projected by the previous administration, demonstrating efficient resource management without compromising on quality or timelines.
President Hichilema commended the contractor, Turbo Ka-chin Consortium, for their timely delivery of the project and urged citizens to safeguard this vital infrastructure against vandalism, underscoring the government’s dedication to transforming Zambia into a well-connected nation.
In his closing remarks, President Hichilema reiterated the government’s commitment to prioritizing infrastructure development as a cornerstone of national progress, emphasizing the transformative impact of projects like the Chingola-Kasumbalesa Road on Zambia’s economic growth and connectivity.
