President Tshisekedi Addresses Congolese Community Concerns on Governance and Corruption
The issue of governance, corruption, and misuse of public funds in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) extends beyond its borders, affecting Congolese communities abroad.
In response to inquiries from the Congolese community in Belgium on May 3, 2024, President Félix Tshisekedi addressed measures implemented to tackle these challenges and foster development in the DRC.
Acknowledging the longstanding nature of this issue, President Tshisekedi emphasized that his administration has prioritized addressing corruption.
He highlighted efforts to track financial wrongdoings through the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF), signaling a shift towards transparency and accountability.
President Tshisekedi commended the role of the IGF, led by Jules Alingete Key, in combating financial misconduct. He underscored the revitalization of the IGF, positioning it as a crucial tool in the fight against corruption and embezzlement.
By elevating the IGF’s status and providing it with necessary resources, the government aims to expose corruption schemes and hold perpetrators accountable.
Under President Tshisekedi’s leadership, the IGF has intensified its efforts to combat financial malpractice, contributing to revenue mobilization and oversight of public finances.
The financial patrol conducted by the IGF has been instrumental in identifying and addressing corruption, with plans to reinforce its activities in the coming years.
As President Tshisekedi embarks on his second term, combating corruption remains a top priority, with the IGF poised to play a central role in upholding transparency and integrity in the DRC’s public institutions.
