President Tshisekedi Directs ARSP CEO to Aggressively Promote Middle Class Growth

On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, Director General of the Regulatory Authority for Subcontracting in the Private Sector (ARSP) presented a report to President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, highlighting the agency’s recent achievements.

The ARSP has made substantial progress in integrating Congolese individuals into the ownership of major subcontracting companies working with large mining groups.

Notable achievements include the integration of Congolese shareholders into the BANGDE company, which collaborates with SICOMINES, and four subcontracting companies of the ERG AFRICA group.

Seven Congolese individuals have become shareholders in these companies. Similarly, SANDVIK INTERNATIONAL has also welcomed Congolese shareholders. These developments indicate that ARSP is effectively advancing its mission with promising results.

Aligned with President Félix Tshisekedi’s vision of fostering a robust middle class and creating Congolese millionaires, the CEO of ARSP assured the President of continued efforts to achieve these ambitious goals.

During the meeting, the Director General emphasized that the recent efforts of ARSP staff have focused on providing Congolese entrepreneurs with access to markets.

This initiative has directly resulted in job creation and the promotion of youth entrepreneurship, a key pillar of the President’s new five-year term.

President Tshisekedi expressed his support for ARSP’s ongoing work, encouraging the agency to continue developing the value chain with tangible mid-term results.

He emphasized the importance of regulatory oversight across all economic sectors, popularizing the Law on Subcontracting, and strengthening partnerships with the private sector.

These strides demonstrate ARSP’s commitment to economic development and the empowerment of Congolese entrepreneurs, contributing to the country’s broader economic growth and stability.
