Report Shows 6.12% Drop in Raw Gold Production in DRC for 2022
The production of raw gold in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) fell by around 1,922.97 kg, representing 6.12% of total annual production.
This is what emerges from the statistical data published by the Congolese Ministry of Mines.
According to the same source, the total production of raw gold in 2022 is 29,498.09 Kg against 31,421.05 Kg in 2021.
During this period, industrial gold miners dominated the market with an estimated volume of 28,492.68 Kg of gold against 1,005 Kg of gold from artisanal mining.
The Ministry of Mines specifies that the gold from industrial exploitation only comes from the Kibali Gold Mining company which produced 28,492.68 kg, or 100%.
As for gold from artisanal mining, which amounts to 1,005 kg, this production comes from the following provinces:
• Nord-Ubangi: 447.33 kg, or 44.49%;
• Bas-Uélé: 44.84 kg, or 4.46%;
• Haut-Uélé: 14.59 kg, or 1.45%;
• Ituri: 15.07 kg, or 1.50%;
• Tshopo: 5.65 kg, or 0.56%;
• Maniema: 11.80 kg, or 1.17%;
• North Kivu: 8.13 kg, or 0.81%;
• South Kivu: 56.00 kg, or 5.57%;
• Tanganyika: 16.08 kg, or 1.60%;
• Kasai Central: 335.91 kg, or 33.41%;
• Kasai: 50.00 kg, or 4.97%.
As for the total exports of raw gold in 2022, they amount to 28,306.26 Kg for a value of USD 1,104,005,214.58.
Compared to those of the year 2021 when exports stood at 31,839.12 Kg for a value of 1,270,144,053.50 USD, there is a difference of 3,532.86 kg corresponding to a drop of 11.09% in quantity and a difference of 166,138,838.92 USD representing a decrease in value of 13.08%.
