SOKIMO SOURCES FOR 16 MILLION USD
In order to resume production at its industrial gold production plant in the town of Nizi, the Kilo-Moto mining company (SOKIMO) needs 16 million US dollars.
With this in mind, this Congolese state company sent one of its administrators to Switzerland as part of the search for financing.
According to the Director General of SOKIMO, Pistis Bononga Tokole, the importance of this hydroelectric plant is so crucial that it is absolutely necessary to find the necessary means to rehabilitate it.
Before its shutdown, the Power Plant had a production capacity of 10 megawatts with its three turbines, but only two turbines are operational and produce barely four megawatts.
It should be noted that the revival of the industrial production of gold suspended for more than ten years is one of the four (4) axes likely to contribute to the revival of the Société aurifère de Kilo-Moto, a public company under the supervision of the Portfolio Department.
Electrokimo, the hydroelectric plant in question is the unit of the mining company SOKIMO which supplies the town of Bunia and its outskirts with electricity.
In 2014, rehabilitation needs were estimated at more than 150,000 US dollars to replace the 4,000 meters of stolen electrical cables.
