Overall Job Purpose
The Airport Supervisor’s primary purpose is to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of Kalumbila Airport and is responsible for airport safety and other compliance regulations. The Supervisor will also be accountable for the preparation and delivery of the Airport’s Business and Budget Planning.
Specific Job Responsibility
- Ensure compliance with ZCAA regulations and other guidelines
- Liaise with ZAF Headquarters and International authorities for flight permits
- Grant landing permits to visiting guests
- Obtain NOTAMs for crew updates
- In charge of Airport runway ERP and ensuring runway navigational facilities are serviceable at all times
- Oversee Airport Security and all AVSEC requirements and maintain bio security at the airport
- Oversee Air Traffic Control in liaison with other airports within the region
- Be the outward face of the Airport, developing and maintaining positive relationships and communications between the airport and its stakeholders & other airport authorities
- Responsible for Airport Business & Budget Planning
- Maintain accurate records, aerodrome logbooks and Aerodrome Manual
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of Airport equipment
- Ensure that runway inspections are done regularly as scheduled
Job Specific Competencies
- Knowledge of general Aviation Administration rules and regulations as it relates to airport and aircraft operations
- Knowledge of airport maintenance procedures, requirements, and equipment
- Knowledge of rules and regulations as they pertain to proper radio communications and the proper use of radio communications equipment
- Knowledge of airport security and emergency plans
- Knowledge of principles and techniques of supervision including staffing, employee development, and planning and organizing work
Qualifications & Experience required to perform in this job
- Minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience working in the aviation sector at supervisory level
- Evidence of working with and influencing internal and external stakeholders
- Proven history of dealing sensitively and diplomatically with regulatory authorities
- Minimum of a Diploma in Civil aviation related field
- A qualification in Management Studies is an added advantage
- Fully conversant with the civil aviation regulations and airport operations
- Aerodrome Licensing
- Must have a Driving License
