Tin falls and records a loss of 4,687.5 USD per ton in one week

After registering a remarkable drop in price in the international market last week, down to USD 2,981.25 per ton, tin could remain on this steep slope during this week.

In its weekly report on the general trend in the prices of mining products exported from the Democratic Republic of Congo on the international market, the National Mercurial Commission notes a new drop in the price of tin.

This product is expected to trade at $35,381.25 per ton this week from $40,068.75 per ton.

In one week, tin recorded a drop in price of around 4,687.5 USD per tonne, ie a fall estimated at -11.70%.

During the period mentioned, i.e. from May 23 to 28, 2022, the prices of the main mining products exported from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are in free fall on the international market, with the exception of cobalt which should observe a stable trend and tantalum which should register a slight increase in price.

The prices of these different products are as follows during this period:

• Copper should record a drop in price on the international market and should sell at 9,201.70 USD per ton against 9,368.25 USD per ton, ie a drop in price of around -166.55 USD.

• Zinc is also down this week and is expected to trade at USD 3,590.95 per tonne compared to USD 3,755.03 per tonne last week, a decline of USD 164.35 during this period representing -4, 38%.

• Gold is also trending lower this week and is trading at USD 58.98 per gram compared to USD 60.75 per gram last week, a slight drop in price of -USD 1.76.

• Silver also drops this week to $0.69 per gram this week from $0.73 per gram last week, a negative price differential of $0.04.

• Tantalum is expected to trend higher over this period to trade at USD 391.25 per kilogram this week from USD 390.00 per kilogram last week.

• Cobalt is expected to see a stable trend in the market over the time frame discussed and is expected to sell at USD 87,781.05 per ton this week.
