Tshela to Become a Center for Trading Precious Materials in Kongo Central
The province of Kongo Central is committed to reviving its mining industry. This is evidenced by the adoption by the Provincial Council of Ministers, on March 15, 2023, of the project to create a trading center for precious materials in the city of Tshela.
This decision is part of the implementation of the provincial strategic plan for the revival of the mining industry.
Note that the purpose of the new trading center is to meet several needs. This includes cleaning up the trade sector for artisanal mining minerals.
It is also a question of producing, through this center, reliable statistics of local production but above all of bringing added value to the artisanal mining activity while bringing dividends to the province.
The creation of this center reflects the firm will of the Governor, Guy Bandu Ndungidi, to diversify the economy of the province but above all to increase its GDP by involving the mining sector thanks to the high added value of the latter.
Two other trading centers will see the light of day respectively in the former districts of Cataractes and Lukaya. This, in order to get closer to artisanal mining areas.
As a reminder, a trading center is a public service endowed with adequate infrastructure and whose objective is the regulation and facilitation of activities related to the marketing of minerals from areas open to artisanal mining.
The province of Kongo Central is full of several mineral riches including bauxite, pyroschite, limestone, phosphate, diamond, gold, copper, black and pink granite, rock salt, iron, clay, talc, and others.
