Zambian Associations Applaud President Hichilema for Mopani Copper Mines Revival
The National Ex-Miners and Allied Workers Association of Zambia have lauded President Hakainde Hichilema and his government for their role in unlocking Mopani Copper Mines.
Lucky Zulu, Acting President of the Association, described the development at Mopani as a source of relief, bringing fresh air and hope to former miners.
He emphasized the Association’s intention to communicate with Mopani management and the government, urging them to prioritize the reinstatement of ex-miners in light of the $1.1 billion investment into the mines by International Resources Holdings.
Zulu expressed these sentiments in an interview with ZNBC News.
Meanwhile, Musa Kamfimbwa, President of Emerald Production Watch of Zambia, commended President Hichilema for his efforts in unlocking Mopani Copper Mines and attracting investment into the sector.
Kamfimbwa urged President Hichilema to swiftly develop a roadmap aimed at revitalizing emerald mining in Lufwanyama District.
He highlighted the joint investment venture between ZCCM–IH and International Resources Holdings at Mopani, stressing its potential to provide both business opportunities and employment for Zambians.
