ZIHRM Raises Concerns Over Illegal HR Practices at Nkana Mining Company
The Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM) has raised a serious issue regarding the actions of Nkana Mining and Minerals Processing Company, as they appear to have hired an unlicensed Human Resource Practitioner, which is against the law.
The penalty for this offense amounts to approximately 150 thousand kwacha, a significant sum. President of the Institute, Kelvin Shamizhinga, has expressed his worry over the increasing number of Human Resource officers who are practicing without proper licenses, breaching regulations.
Owen Chilala, the Registrar of the Institute, has emphasized the importance of Human Resource practitioners prioritizing the welfare of workers. He has called upon these professionals to always keep the well-being of the employees as their top concern.
Shifting the focus to the local level, Kelly Jibinga, the District Commissioner of Kalulushi, has also voiced his concerns regarding certain practitioners who seem to be neglecting their duty to safeguard the rights and interests of the workers. This indicates a larger issue that needs to be addressed within the field of Human Resources.
