Zinc Production Falls as DRC Mining Companies Report 12,309 Tonnes in 2022.
Compared to the year 2021, zinc production in the Democratic Republic of Congo experienced a decline in 2022.
For the whole of 2022, mining industries in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) produced only 12,309 tonnes of zinc. This is indicated in the summary of statistical information from the Central Bank of Congo published in January 2023.
The same document recalls that during the year 2021, the mining industries opening in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) had recorded a production of around 16,079 tonnes of zinc.
On the international market, zinc recorded a drop in price. The cause would be the drop in demand.
Meanwhile, premiums fell for the first time in eight weeks in the North of the continent, although market conditions were unchanged.
In Rotterdam and Antwerp, premiums even fell to 500-540 USD per ton this week.
