DRC: 974,225.71 tonnes of copper exported at the end of August 2021 for a market value of 8.7 billion USD
Copper mining companies operating in the Democratic Republic of the Congo exported 1 million 39,670.30 tonnes of copper at the end of August 2021, of which 65,444.60 tonnes were sold locally in the DRC and 974,225.71 tonnes were exported, according to data from the Ministry of Mines.
In the 1st half of 2021, mining operators produced 871,956.36 tonnes of copper in the 1st half of 2021, including 414,130.71 tonnes in the 1st quarter and 457,825.65 tonnes in the 2nd quarter, according to the same source.
Copper prices on the international market are currently around USD 9,000 per tonne. At this price, exports of the volume of 974,225.71 tons of copper are expected to generate an estimated sales value of 8 billion 768.025 million USD.
