Interior Provincial Minister grants a 60-day time frame to SOCOMIACO to leave the SOMIKA mining site- Haut-Katanga

The Provincial Minister of the Interior of Haut-Katanga Province, Fulbert Kunda, has granted a sixty-day moratorium to the artisanal mining cooperative society of Congo “SOCOMIACO” to leave and empty the mining site of the Company. mining company of Katanga “SOMIKA”. The letter is legally recognized as the owner, according to the minister, of this mining site

This moratorium was given on Saturday at the end of discussions which brought together delegates from Socomiaco and Somika in Lubumbashi under the leadership of Fulbert Kunda.

The objective of these meetings was to settle the differences between Somika and Socomiaco, which has for some time been engaged in irregular artisanal mining in the Lupoto quarry, belonging to Somika.

Both parties expressed satisfaction with the peaceful arbitration of the provincial interior ministry.
