Sweden-based mining equipment manufacturer Epiroc has won an order including battery-electric machines and automation solutions from the Canadian Malartic Partnership to be used in a new underground gold mine currently under construction. The equipment includes a variety of drill rigs, loaders and mine trucks, an unspecified amount of which will be battery powered. Sweden-based mining equipment manufacturer Epiroc has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BluVein, a joint venture between Australian mine operator Olitek and Swedish electric highways developer Evias, to fast-track the development of electrification in mines.
