DRC Appoints Godard Motemona as New Director General of FOMIN to Oversee Mining Wealth for Future Generations
Godard Motemona has been appointed Director General of the Mining Fund for Future Generations (FOMIN), replacing Faustin Biringanine, according to a presidential order read on national television on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
He assumes leadership of the strategic public institution responsible for safeguarding a portion of mining revenues to ensure long-term benefits for future generations in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Prior to this appointment, Motemona served as Vice Minister of Mines in the Suminwa I government, where he worked alongside Minister of Mines Kizito Pakabomba Kapinga.
Beyond government service, he is also active in civil society and politics, serving as president of the non-profit organization Bana Kin and leader of the political party En Marche pour le Progrès (EMP).
The party promotes democratic and republican values, including individual and collective freedoms, respect for human dignity, and gender equality.

The Mining Fund for Future Generations (FOMIN) was established under Law No. 18/001 of March 9, 2018, which amended and supplemented Law No. 007/2002 of July 11, 2002 on the Mining Code of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Its mandate is to accumulate financial and material resources derived from the mining sector to support long-term sustainability and secure economic benefits for future generations in the post-mining era.
