The new lime plant built by the TFM company | DRC
The Minister of Mines, Prof. Willy KITOBO SAMSONI took advantage of his mission in Haut-Katanga and Lualaba to visit, on January 08, 2021, the new lime factory built by the TFM company.
As a man in the field and a well-informed scientist since he was a University professor in the field, he followed all the explanations and left satisfied with this important investment mounted in record time. The Minister of Mines encouraged them to continue supporting the development of the Congolese mining sector since by setting up this industrial production unit with a 60m coal rotary kiln, TFM has positively impacted our economy in the DRC by creating new jobs and limiting the flight of millions of currencies for the import of this lime.
The latter, like sulfuric acid, is an important chemical reagent in chemical and metallurgical processes.
Lime is also used in construction as a binder and even in agriculture and environment for soil pH amendments.
As the production capacity is greater than the needs of their main copper and cobalt production units, the excess can be sold to other miners or cover local construction needs.
