Zambian Government supports Bell Apprenticeship Training
Bell Equipment has been chosen by the Zambian Government as a partner in its Apprenticeship Programme, whereby the government will fund 50% of our Zambian apprentice training over four years to drive skills development.
A signing ceremony with Zambia’s Technical Education, Vocational & Entreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA) took place last week.
As a company with African roots, Bell understands the importance of skills development. 2023 marks 35 years that Bell has been investing in apprenticeship training and, as one of the largest suppliers of artisans for the earthmoving industry in southern Africa, we take this responsibility seriously and are proud to have been chosen to participate in the programme.
Our Zambian earthmoving mechanic apprentices are trained at Bell Zambia, which is an ideal teaching facility as we have fully equipped workshops and undertake complete rebuilds of our machines.
This provides our apprentices with invaluable, real-life experience, which then culminates in a trade test at our accredited training center in South Africa.
Managing Director of Bell Zambia, Samson Chingozho, said at the signing ceremony: “On behalf of Bell Equipment, I would like to thank the Zambian Government for selecting Bell Zambia to pioneer its Apprenticeship Programme.
This programme comes at a time when the demand from our mining industry is outstripping our resources to train. So, we are excited and appreciative of the opportunity to partner with you and believe that together we will make a real difference in the lives of young Zambians, our communities and our mining industry.”
