Lusaka-Ndola Dual Carriageway Project Employs 1,747 Zambians

The Road Development Agency has confirmed the employment of 1,747 Zambians as progress continues on the Lusaka-Ndola Dual Carriageway project.

The project, led by MOIC-LN Consortium Limited, began on May 21, 2024, following a groundbreaking ceremony officiated by President Hakainde Hichilema.

The initiative involves upgrading 327 kilometers of the Lusaka-Ndola Road and rehabilitating 45 kilometers of the Masangano-Fisenge-Luanshya Road under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Financing Model.

Among the 1,747 employed, 865 are general workers, 233 are plant operators, 38 are engineers, 33 serve as administrators, and 578 are engaged in various construction-related roles.

Once completed, the dual carriageway is expected to greatly enhance travel times and safety for those commuting between Lusaka and the Copperbelt Province by enabling a continuous flow of traffic.

In addition, Minister of Infrastructure, Housing, and Urban Development, Hon. Eng. Charles Lubasi Milupi, recently launched the rehabilitation of the Lusaka-Mongu road, covering 87.3 kilometers from Tateyoyo Gate to Katunda/Lukulu Junction. This project is slated for completion within 24 months.
