Mali’s Gold Production Rises 30% in First Half of 2026
Mali Gold Output Reaches 23.5 Tonnes in H1 2026, Beating Government Forecast
Mali’s industrial gold production increased by about 30% in the first half of 2026, reaching 23.5 tonnes and exceeding the government’s forecast for the period.
Data from Mali’s Mines Ministry shows that production between January and June rose from approximately 18 tonnes during the same period in 2025 to 23.5 tonnes this year. The figure was also above the government’s forecast of 21.2 tonnes.
The stronger-than-expected performance puts Mali on course to meet or potentially exceed its full-year industrial gold production target of 43.2 tonnes.
The increase follows a weaker 2025, when industrial gold production fell to 42.2 tonnes, compared with a record 66.5 tonnes in 2023.
B2Gold’s Fekola mine was the largest contributor during the first half, producing 8.85 tonnes. Barrick’s Loulo operation followed with 6.9 tonnes, while Resolute produced 3 tonnes and Allied contributed 3.5 tonnes.
The latest production figures indicate improved performance across Mali’s industrial gold sector. However, the Mines Ministry’s production data did not provide specific reasons for the increase.
Mali’s gold production pipeline is also expanding. Authorities recently granted a large-scale mining permit for B2Gold’s Menankoto project, which is expected to produce more than 150,000 ounces of gold annually from 2028.
Meanwhile, Toubani Resources’ Kobada project is targeting first gold in 2027 and is designed to produce approximately 162,000 ounces a year.
With existing mines delivering stronger first-half production and new projects progressing, Mali’s gold sector could see further growth over the coming years.
