Feriel Zerouki to Step Down as De Beers Chief Trade and Industry Officer

De Beers Executive Feriel Zerouki Resigns After Two Decades, Leaving Legacy of Ethics and Transparency in Diamond Industry

Feriel Zerouki will step down as De Beers Group’s Chief Trade and Industry Officer and member of the executive committee at the end of October, the diamond company announced.

Zerouki joined De Beers in 2005 and has played a central role in shaping the miner’s leadership in ethics, provenance, and industry integrity over her nearly two decades with the group.

During her tenure, she spearheaded the launch of Tracr and GemFair, two groundbreaking initiatives that advanced diamond traceability and responsible sourcing. These programs strengthened consumer confidence in natural diamonds and set new benchmarks for transparency and sustainability across the global industry.

Beyond her work at De Beers, Zerouki has been a leading voice in promoting ethical standards across the diamond value chain. She currently serves as President of the World Diamond Council (WDC), where she has championed efforts to enhance the Kimberley Process and improve mining-origin certification systems. She will continue in this position until May 2026.

“Feriel has played a pivotal role in establishing and upholding the highest standards of integrity and provenance within De Beers and across the global diamond industry,” said De Beers CEO Al Cook.

“Her strategic insight and leadership have contributed meaningfully to initiatives that will leave a lasting impact on the sector. We thank her for her contributions and wish her continued success as she embarks on the next chapter of her career.”

Reflecting on her departure, Zerouki said she was proud of the company’s evolution and her part in driving industry progress.

“Being part of De Beers has been an extraordinary journey,” she said. “I am immensely proud of what we have built together and deeply grateful for the people and partnerships that have defined these 20 years. I leave with pride in our shared achievements and with excitement for what lies ahead.”
