Key Themes and Speaker Sessions at the 2nd Annual Angola International Mining Conference and Exhibition 2023 on the theme “Mineral Resource Development, Sustainability and Challenges”

The highly anticipated 2nd edition of the Angola International Mining Conference and Exhibition (AMC) is scheduled to take place from November 22 to 23, 2023, at the Centro de Convençoes Talatona (CCTA) in Luanda, Angola. The conference is produced in collaboration with the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Petroleum and AME Trade Ltd.

The event is set to focus on the theme of “Mineral Resource Development, Sustainability, and Challenges,” which mirrors the government’s commitment to diversify the nation’s mineral resources, enhance the mineral landscape, and attract further foreign investment.

The opening ceremony will be graced by his Excellency, H.E. João Lourenço, the President of the Republic of Angola, as our esteemed guest of honour.  In addition, a keynote address will be delivered by Hon. Diamantino Azevedo, Minister Mineral Resources and Petroleum and Gas, Angola.

One of thekey sessions will explore “Angola’s Vision for Sustainable Mineral Resource Development.” This session will unveil Angola’s proactive stance towards mineral resource development and its dedication to revitalizing the mining sector. It aims to promote stability and transparency to instil confidence in international investors. Vusi Mabena, Executive Secretary of the Mining Industry Association of Southern Africa (MIASA) will provide valuable contributions, highlighting the growth potential of Angola’s mining sector.

In addition, João Luis Ngimbi, Executive Director African Development Bank Group, will share his insights on Sustainable Financing and Capital Raising for Mining Projects Session and will be joined bySonia Essobmadje, Chief, Innovative Finance & Capital Markets.

The session titled “Updates from the exploration perspective,” will assess Angola’s mineral wealth and determine how it aligns with global demand trends and supply forecasts, demonstrating the nation’s pivotal role in securing critical resources. This session will feature Chief Geologist of Anglo American, Owen Chingobo , the Executive Director of Sustainable Minerals Institute International Centre of Excellence Chile, Dr. Doug Aitken and theChairman of Ozango Minerais SA , Alcídio José.

With governments and regulatory bodies implementing stricter ESG regulations, participants will gain insights from Dr M’zee Fula Ngenge, Chairman of the African Diamond Council (ADC) and African Diamond Producers Association ADPA, and representatives of Lipari Diamond Mines on how they are implementing sustainable ESG practices in their operations. The focus will be on the Framework for Environmental Stewardship, Community Engagement, Stakeholder Management, and acknowledging Angola’s Implementation of EITI.

Investors and players in Angola’s mining industry will join an array of diverse mining sessions to discuss strategic development projects, partnerships, and investment opportunities that are driving innovation and sustainability in the mining industry.
