Allocation of 16 oil and gas blocks from the DRC, Egypt expresses its interest
The opportunities related to the allocation of oil and gas blocks in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were the subject of discussions between the Congolese Minister of Hydrocarbons, Didier Budimbu, and the Egyptian Prime Minister, Moustapha Madbouli. It was on the sidelines of the 7th edition of the AFFCA in Cairo, Egypt.
Their discussions indeed focused on the opportunities represented by the allocation of oil and gas blocks not only for the DRC but also for the African continent as a whole.
Egypt, already present in the DRC through several road infrastructure construction projects (the road linking Mbuji-Mayi to Kananga is proof of this), is well prepared to accompany the DRC in this decisive turning point.
For his part, the Congolese Minister of Hydrocarbons, Didier Budimbu, highlighted the challenges of this approach in view of the unstable Western situation mainly concerning the gas market.
Thus, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has, via this almost inexhaustible resource of Lake Kivu, what to offer a more credible palliative in this field, affirmed the Congolese Minister of Hydrocarbons.
The gas resources of the DRC being estimated at 66 billion m3, Didier Budimbu pleaded for an inter-African economic integration. A vision shared by the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah Al Sissi, with the aim of achieving comprehensive and sustainable development while preserving peace, economic and social security on the continent.
The position of the Egyptian President reflects an identity of views with his Congolese counterpart, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, said Didier Budimbu to the Head of Government of the host country.
The Congolese Minister of Hydrocarbons, Didier Budimbu, expects positive repercussions in the Egyptian-Congolese cooperation, especially with regard to the project for the upcoming allocation of 16 oil and gas blocks.
