Alphamin Reports Stable Quarter Despite Rising Costs and Weather Risks
Alphamin Keeps Tin Production Steady and Remains on Course to Meet Annual Guidance
Tin producer Alphamin Resources delivered a solid operational performance during the quarter ended September 30, maintaining production levels that keep the company on track to achieve its annual target of 20,000 tonnes of contained tin.
The company’s flagship Bisie Tin Project in the Democratic Republic of Congo produced 5,030 tonnes of contained tin during the quarter, broadly in line with both the previous quarter and management’s full-year guidance.
The steady performance reflects the resilience of Alphamin’s operations despite minor variations in ore quality.
Total ore processed increased by 1% to 213,454 tonnes, while the average tin grade declined slightly from 3.3% to 3.2%. Processing recovery rates remained stable at 72.9%, supporting consistent output levels.
Sales performance also remained strong, with the company selling 3,046 tonnes of tin during the quarter.
Alphamin attributed this to favorable transportation conditions and improved transit times, which helped maintain smooth deliveries from its operations in eastern DRC.
The company also rewarded shareholders by declaring an interim dividend of C$0.13 per share, reflecting confidence in its financial position and cash-generating ability.
Rising Costs Offset by Strong Market Conditions
While production remained stable, Alphamin reported higher operating costs during the quarter.
Part of the increase was linked to higher royalty payments, export duties, marketing fees, and smelter-related charges, which rose alongside stronger tin prices. The company also faced increased diesel, transportation, and logistics expenses.
Despite these cost pressures, Alphamin expects to generate approximately $171 million in EBITDA for the quarter, highlighting the strength of tin market fundamentals and the profitability of its operations.
Preparing for Seasonal Challenges
Looking ahead, Alphamin noted that the final quarter of the year is traditionally the most challenging period for logistics due to seasonal weather conditions.
The company warned that current El Niño patterns could result in a more disruptive rainy season than usual.
To minimize potential disruptions, Alphamin has already secured additional trucking capacity and fuel supplies to support uninterrupted operations and product exports.
With production remaining consistent, sales flowing steadily, and earnings expected to remain robust, Alphamin appears well positioned to meet its 2026 production objectives.
The company’s proactive approach to managing logistical risks and maintaining operational efficiency at the Bisie mine continues to reinforce its position as one of the world’s leading tin producers.
