CAMI Director General Meets with Mines Minister to Discuss North Ubangi Artisanal Mining Zones

The Director General of the mining cadastre (CAMI) Popol Mabolia Yenga, was received on Wednesday, November 1 by the Minister of Mines Antoinette Nsamba Kalambayi.

The exchanges between these two personalities revolved around the issue of creating artisanal mining zones in the North Ubangi province.

After intense lobbying by the new Director General of CAMI, it appears that the head of Mines has signed 8 ministerial decrees which, according to the communications unit, aim at the formal organization of the mining sector in this jurisdiction.

One problem among many others which finally finds the solution after certain irregularities which surrounded this file but also which disturbed artisanal miners in this part of the national territory.

This measure formalizes the “artisanal exploitation” of the said province in order to “mobilize revenues” which today constitute a basis for economic growth but also should allow North Ubangi to compete alongside other mining provinces including Lualaba. , Haut-Katanga, and Tanganyika.

This CAMI approach is in line with the vision of the Head of State, Félix Tshisekedi, who opts for the local industrialization of natural resources in order to make Congolese millionaires.

Indeed, Antoinette Nsamba, in a letter addressed to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Mines, called on the latter to take all necessary measures for the flawless application of these orders.

It should be remembered that this request was led by Malo Mobutu, Governor of North Ubangi and was followed by that of Popol Mabolia, Director General of CAMI.

Rich in minerals including copper, iron, diamond, gold and mercury, the North Ubangi province has a semi-industrial operating unit.
