Ivanhoe Mines Co-Chairs Robert Friedland and Yufeng “Miles” Sun announced on October 1 that underground development at the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Project totaled 2,069 meters in September, setting a new monthly record for the project and driving development. underground total more than 22.6 kilometers – about 7.0 kilometers, or 44% ahead of schedule, a company statement reported. The mineral reserve at TSX-listed First Quantum Minerals’ Kansanshi mine, in Zambia, has increased by 70% to an estimated 842-million tonnes, grading 0.64% copper, while the mine’s mineral resource has increased by 40% to an estimated 939-million tonnes, grading 0.67% copper. Lubambe Copper Mines in Chililabombwe town on the Copperbelt has completed the US $750 million extension project.
