COMMISSIONING OF 500MVA 330/220/33KV MUKUNI SUBSTATION IS ZESCO’S STEP FORWARD IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

We are pleased to announce the commissioning of the 500MVA 330/220/33KV Mukuni Substation in a quest to boost power supply to various sectors of our economy. The commissioning of this substation will significantly reduce the power deficit and deliver economic dividends to our people in the short and long term. Furthermore, this commissioning signifies the corporation’s positive steps towards the improvement of power supply and enhanced power trading among market players of the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP).

It is worth noting that this project falls within the scope of a regional power project involving three of our neighbouring Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries namely Botswana, Namibia, and Zimbabwe. This collaboration augments the benefits of pooling human capital, material, and financial resources to develop energy infrastructure for enhanced power trade in the region.

Additionally, ZESCO has embarked upon several projects in different parts of the country to increase power generation capacity and to improve reliability of supply which will enable the corporation deliver reliable and affordable electricity which is a key requisite to transforming the lives of our citizens residing in the rural parts of the country.
