Copper 360 Strengthens Board with Three New Independent Nonexecutive Directors

Copper 360 appoints Peter Scott, Beverley Bouwer, and Lindiwe Montshiwagae as independent nonexecutive directors

JSE-listed Copper 360 has announced the appointment of Peter Scott, Beverley Bouwer, and Lindiwe Montshiwagae as independent nonexecutive directors, effective October 15, following its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on the same date.

At the meeting, Dr Mbendeni Humphrey Mathe and Shirley Ann Hayes retired by rotation. While Dr Mathe stepped down from the board, Hayes made herself available for re-election and was subsequently reappointed as a nonexecutive director.

“The board extends its gratitude to Dr Mathe for his valuable service as a director. We welcome the newly appointed and re-elected directors and wish them success in their roles,” Copper 360 said in a statement to shareholders.

Peter Scott: Technical Expertise and Global Industry Experience

Peter Scott brings more than 25 years of experience in the metals and minerals industry. His postgraduate research focused on uranium hydrometallurgy, and he went on to work at Gencor and Mintek, where he specialized in base metal leaching, platinum group metal refining, and copper processing technologies.

As Marketing Director at Mintek from 1992 to 2001, Scott spearheaded international projects in flotation, solvent extraction, electrowinning, and bioleaching, including major initiatives in Mexico, Chile, and the United States.

In 1999, he co-founded Atoll, later becoming its CEO in 2001 and leading its slag recovery and smelting operations until his retirement in 2009.

Copper 360 noted that Scott combines deep technical expertise with global industry experience and proven executive leadership, positioning him as a valuable addition to the board.

Beverley Bouwer: Governance and Strategic Investment Leadership

Beverley Bouwer currently serves on the boards of the Public Investment Corporation (PIC) and AVBOB, where she contributes extensive experience in corporate governance, investment oversight, and regulatory compliance.

Copper 360 highlighted Bouwer’s pivotal role in shaping strategic investment decisions, strengthening risk management frameworks, and driving sustainable value creation for stakeholders.

Her blend of technical expertise and hands-on governance experience, combined with a focus on long-term outcomes, positions her to help enhance shareholder confidence and sustainable growth at Copper 360.

Lindiwe Montshiwagae: ESG and Strategic Growth Expertise

During her 13-year tenure at Royal Bafokeng Platinum (RBPlat), Lindiwe Montshiwagae played a key role in the company’s growth and transformation, contributing to its IPO, capital-raising efforts, and acquisitions.

She served as a permanent invitee to RBPlat’s board, audit and risk, and social and ethics committees, gaining extensive experience in governance and strategic decision-making.

Internationally, she represented RBPlat on the boards of the World Platinum Investment Council (UK) and the Platinum Jewellery Development Association.

Copper 360 said Montshiwagae brings a strong background in strategy, ESG and sustainability, investor relations, and stakeholder engagement—combining financial acumen with purpose-driven leadership to create long-term value for both shareholders and the broader community.
