Dan Gertler now has the Republic as a lawyer, it’s a shame!
After the signing of the amicable agreement between the Congolese government and Dan Gertler, the Minister of State for Justice has indicated that the Israeli businessman no longer has mining assets in the Democratic Republic of Congo but when his American sanctions are lifted, the doors will always be open to him but business should be done in accordance with the laws and texts of the country.
André Wameso, Dircaba of the Head of State in charge of economic and financial issues and vice-president of the commission which ruled in the Dan Gertler case, recalled that the businessman maintains a passive presence in the DRC thanks to his royalties.
“He has a passive presence through royalties, he holds a financial right to royalties that Glencore and Metalkol will pay him in the future. In this amicable agreement, we also consider that Mr. Gertler, a sulfurous personality has nevertheless paid and returned to the Republic his property and that from that moment we as the Republic, we have nothing against him, if he meets the conditions he is welcome in the Democratic Republic of Congo”, has explained André Wameso.
In this issue Jean-Claude Mputu, spokesperson for the “Congo is not for sale” (CNPAV) campaign, fixes the opinion on the position of this platform after the participation in the round table organized by the Presidency of the Republic on the mining agreement signed between the Congolese State and the Ventora group of the Israeli businessman Dan Gertler; and on dissidence within the CNPAV.
