“DR Congo must not remain a country of consumption” Dieudonné Kasembo, the New FEC leader
Newly promoted to the head of the Federation of Congo Enterprises (FEC), Dieudonné Kasembo is thinking of a new economic model for the DRC, focusing primarily on agriculture or agribusiness.
Being a member of the African Free Trade Area (ZLECAF), the DRC should not remain, according to Mr. Kasembo, a consumer country but should rather be able to offer something across the world with regard to its potentialities.
“We need to rethink a new economic model for our country. We need to work on this to ensure that we prioritize agriculture, agribusiness and agribusiness. You know that our country has joined the ZLECAF, we should not remain a country of consumption, we must be able to offer something throughout the world, ”explained Dieudonné Kasembo after his election.
Aware of his task within the FEC, the new president considers it necessary, in order to achieve this, to start first by bringing together all the members of this organization who, according to him, have been divided for a while.
“The first thing, we should start by bringing everyone together, bringing the members together. We feel as if they are simply divided by the will of certain people. At the FEC, we have a watchword: building together. In other words, to develop the Congolese economy we must do it with all the economic operators of the whole Republic, ”added Dieudonné Kasembo.
And to conclude:
“Today across the world, businesses are shutting down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We must work on this so as to help economic operators to get out of this crisis without too much damage ”.
Managing partner of Gecotrans, Dieudonné Kasembo was the sole candidate registered by the Council of State. He was elected president of the FEC in the poll organized this Wednesday, December 23 by 14 voters. He succeeds Albert Yuma who is still contesting the procedure leading to the annulment of his election and the reorganization of this ballot in the presence of delegates from the Council of State.
