DRC Aluminium Prices Dip Slightly Amid Global Market Fluctuations
DRC Aluminium Export Prices See Minor Decline as Global Demand Influences Market Trends
The price of aluminium, a key export product of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), recorded a slight decline of 0.15% on the international market. According to the Ministry of Foreign Trade, as of November 10, 2025, aluminium was trading at $1,351.70 per ton, down from $1,353.76 per ton the previous week.
This minor drop follows a period of gains during November 3-8, when the metal rose 2.8%, from $1,316.76 to $1,353.76 per ton. The Ministry notes that price fluctuations for mining, agricultural, and forestry products are primarily driven by global supply and demand dynamics, as well as occasional disruptions in international supply chains.
While aluminium is less prominent than copper or cobalt in the DRC’s export portfolio, it remains a strategic commodity in the country’s foreign trade. The metal’s versatility makes it essential across multiple industries, including construction, automotive, aerospace, electricity, and energy, thanks to its lightweight, corrosion-resistant properties and excellent thermal and electrical conductivity.
Globally, aluminium production is dominated by China, India, Russia, and Canada, whose output and industrial policies strongly influence market prices. Despite the slight decrease this week, market analysts believe that aluminium remains relatively stable, supported by steady demand from the technology and energy sectors.
As the DRC continues to rely heavily on mineral exports, monitoring aluminium and other key metals is vital for understanding broader economic trends and sustaining foreign revenue streams.
