DRC Gold Production Skyrockets from 38 kg to 475 kg in September 2023
The gold sector is changing in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). It remains notably marked by a significant increase in the production of artisanal gold.
The various collaboration agreements signed between the Congolese Government, private and state actors have made it possible to boost this production to 475 kg of artisanal gold in September 2023, coming from 38 kg recorded in 2022.
This evolution of the DRC’s gold sector was mentioned by the Deputy Minister of Mines, Godard Motemona, this Tuesday, October 24, 2023, during the first edition of the National Gold Day (WOLO) organized under the theme: “ Gold, a structuring pillar of the development of the DRC”.
“The production of gold in the DRC has experienced a remarkable increase over the last two years due to the conclusion by the Congolese Government of several partnership agreements with private and state actors, thus making it possible to guarantee transparency, traceability and optimal security of gold operations.
On the one hand, we have industrial gold mining companies like Kibali Gold, whose exploits rank the Democratic Republic of Congo among the largest gold producers in the world, and We also have an artisanal gold export company, Primera Gold SA, reaching a remarkable export total of 475 Kg of gold in September 2023,” said Godard Motemona.
Regarding Primera Gold SA, the Deputy Minister of Mines of the DRC indicated that the success of the operation of the joint venture is obvious.
Primera Gold consistently demonstrates an effective business model in the gold export sector.
Indeed, this record export not only strengthened the company’s reputation, but also had a positive impact on the DRC economy by generating significant financial benefits.
