DRC Mines Minister Highlights Training as Key to Sustainable Mineral Development
DRC Mining Sector Boosted by Training Programs for Administration Staff, Says Minister Louis Watum
The Minister of Mines of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Louis Watum Kabamba, emphasized the critical role of administrative training in achieving the sustainable development of the country’s vast mineral resources.
“The sustainable development of the DRC’s immense mineral resources depends primarily on the quality of human capital,” said Minister Watum during a ceremony presenting certificates of participation in continuing education programs for managers and staff of the Mines administration.
The event was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Service, Modernization of Administration, and Innovation of Public Service, Jean-Pierre Lihau.
Minister Watum reaffirmed that continuing education is a cornerstone of the modernization strategy for the mining administration, aligned with the Government Action Program 2024–2028 and the vision of the President of the Republic.
He underscored the strategic partnership with the National School of Administration, highlighting the relevance of the training modules, which are tailored to the realities of the mining sector, legal requirements, and governance standards.
Finally, Minister Watum noted the numerous strategic training programs that Mines administration managers and staff have undertaken both nationally and internationally. He urged the certificate recipients to apply their knowledge with professionalism, performance, and responsibility in service of the State.
