DRC Mining Cadastre Reopens Application Window After Major Data Cleanup
DRC Mining Cadastre Reopens in February 2026 After Reclaiming Over 31,000 km² of Mining Land
The Mining Cadastre (CAMI) has announced the reopening of its registration desk for new applications for mining and exploration rights, effective Monday, February 2, 2026.
The decision follows the completion of periodic maintenance and cleanup of the national mining cadastre.
In its statement, CAMI urged all applicants to strictly comply with the legal and regulatory requirements governing the submission of mining and quarrying applications, stressing that only complete and compliant files will be accepted.
The Mining Cadastre had temporarily suspended the reception of new applications on December 17, 2025. This measure was taken to carry out a comprehensive sanitation of cadastral records, with the objective of improving data management, reliability, and transparency in the administration of mining rights across the Democratic Republic of Congo.
During the closure period, CAMI continued to process procedures related to existing mining and quarrying rights. Operations such as renewals, transformations, transfers, leases, options, and other transactions involving already granted titles were not affected. This continuity helped reassure operators and maintain stability in the sector.
According to CAMI, the cleanup exercise produced significant results. In 2025 alone, 594 mining and quarrying titles were reclaimed by the Congolese state.
These titles correspond to 37,253 mining squares, representing approximately 31,648 square kilometres of land made available for reallocation in line with national regulations.
In addition, 210 mining rights that had remained in a prolonged state of force majeure were regularised. Covering 18,709 mining squares, these rights were reclassified as active assets, thereby restoring the tax, social, and technical obligations of their holders.
Through these reforms, the Mining Cadastre reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening governance, transparency, and legal certainty in the mining sector, while encouraging stakeholders to take advantage of the reopened application window in full compliance with the law.
