DRC produced over 16.6 million carats of diamonds by November 2022
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) produced 16,685 million carats of diamonds from January 1 to November 30, 2022.
These data were published by the Central Bank of Congo (BCC) in its summary of statistical information for the month of November 2022.
According to this document from the BCC, the production of diamonds in 2022 is increasing sharply during this year.
In 11 months of the current year, the industrial sector of the Democratic Republic of Congo produced only 6.964 million carats of diamonds against 4.065 million carats last year.
The craftsmanship which has dominated this sector for several years produced a production of around 9.721 million carats of diamonds against 6.317 million carats during the same period last year.
For the year 2021, the Democratic Republic of Congo had produced 13,222 million carats of diamonds, inform the figures of the Ministry of Mines quoted by the Central Bank of Congo.
In the first half of 2022, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) produced 4,581,679.13 carats of diamonds.
It should be noted that diamond production was dominated by artisanal mining at 51.86% and 48.05% for industrial mining, boosted in particular by the revival of production by MIBA.
During the half of 2022, the breakdown of diamond production was as follows:
• 2,376,116.52 carats of artisanal mining, or 51.86%;
• 2,201,454.16 industrially mined carats, or 48.05%;
