DRC sees Production of Over 17.7 million carats of Diamonds in 2022
Diamond production increased significantly during 2022 in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
According to data provided by the Central Bank of Congo (BCC), mining industries opening in the Democratic Republic of Congo produced more than 17.7 million carats of diamonds during the year 2022.
The same source indicates that for the whole of 2021, the diamond production sector (industry and crafts) had produced a production of around 12,179 million carats.
By comparing the two periods taken into account by the experts of the Central Bank of Congo (BCC), there is a positive difference of around 5.6 million carats of diamonds in 2022.
Diamond production in the Democratic Republic of Congo remains dominated by handicrafts with a production of around 10.507 million carats of diamonds in 2022 against 7.654 million carats in 2021.
For the industrial sector, the Central Bank of Congo notes a production of around 7.235 million carats in 2022 against 4.525 carats in 2021.
It should be noted that the increase in the production of mining products promotes the development of the economy of the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is asserting itself every day as one of the most resilient economies in sub-Saharan Africa.
