DRC’s Abundant Mineral Wealth Takes Center Stage at Future Minerals Forum 2024

The Democratic Republic of Congo was highlighted at the Future Minerals Forum 2024 conference, which took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Dieudonné-Louis Tambwe, an expert in mining issues and the coordinator of the Technical Coordination and Mining Planning Unit (CTCPM), presented numerous investment opportunities in the DRC’s mining sector during the session dedicated to the country.

In his speech, Dieudonné-Louis Tambwe highlighted the different metallogenic provinces and blocks of the DRC, as well as their characteristic minerals. In total, he mentioned eight blocks, each with specific mineral resources.

These included the Haut-Congo block, rich in gold and iron; the Karagwe-Ankole belt, rich in gold and the 3Ts (tin, coltan, tungsten); the Kasaï block, rich in diamond, nickel, and chrome; the copper-cobalt belt, rich in copper and cobalt; the Kibarian belt, rich in 3T and gold; the Ubangi block, rich in gold, diamond, tin, and monazite; the western Congo belt, rich in copper, lead, zinc, and vanadium; as well as the central belt, rich in diamonds and oil shales.

These mineral resources made the DRC a land of opportunities for investments in the mining sector worldwide. The diversity of minerals present in different regions of the country offered enormous potential for companies and investors interested in exploiting and trading these resources.

As a reminder, the Future Minerals Forum 2024 (FMF24) brought together more than 40 mining ministers, as well as delegations of decision-makers and mining experts from around the world.

This major event, held in Saudi Arabia, began on Tuesday, January 9, with a ministerial round table and concluded on Thursday, January 11.

Furthermore, FMF24 provided a unique platform to discuss strategic issues related to minerals and to promote investment opportunities in the mining sector.

The DRC, as one of the world’s leading mineral producers, played a key role in these discussions and attracted the attention of investors interested in the country’s mining potential.
