Job description:
PURPOSE
Able to drive and respond to incidents with minimum delay as well as provide ambulance services and respond on / off duty to medical emergencies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive ambulance and transport sick, injured or convalescent persons
- Place patients on stretchers and load stretchers into ambulances, usually with the assistance from fellow employees
- Accompany and assist emergency personnel when required
- Replace supplies and disposable items on ambulances
- Administer first aid, such as bandaging, splinting
- Conduct daily inspections on the ambulance
- Ensure all medical supplies and equipment is in order
- Must be mentally and physically fit
- Ensure good maintenance of all fire fighting vehicles.
- Maintain record of all emergency Medical Equipment
- Ensure efficient turnout during emergency medical drills.
- Other duties as directed by the Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Must have a valid advance first aid certificate issued through a recognised institute approved by the chamber of mines
- Must have a valid driving license (Class PSV)
- Must be mentally and physically fit
- Must be Computer Literate
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience with at least 2 years in the mining industry
