ERG Africa’s Boss Mining and Subsidiaries Join Lualaba Mining Show

The Lualaba Mining Show aims to drive the critical involvement of the mining industry in the development of Lualaba Province.

The first edition of the Lualaba Mining Show 2023 [Salon Minier Lualaba 2023] was held on 5 and 6 October, at the Musompo Trading Centre in Kolwezi, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The exhibition organized under the patronage of Her Excellency, the Governor of Lualaba Province, Ms Fifi Masuka Saini, garnered the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including DRC President, His Excellency Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, who also officiated the opening of the Musompo Trading Centre on the same day, accompanied by His Excellency Sama Lukonde, DRC Prime Minister and other members of the government.

The theme of this year’s Lualaba Mining Show, “The impact of the Musompo Trading Center [Centre de Négoce de Musompo] on the development of Lualaba Province and the emergence of the middle class,” highlighted the important role the mining sector can play in shaping the province’s socio-economic development and improving the quality of life for communities throughout the province.

During the opening ceremony, Ms Masuka Saini said, “The Lualaba Mining Show aims to foster engagement among the mining industry and other stakeholders in the province’s development and showcasing Lualaba’s potential to the world.”

ERG Africa’s delegation at the Lualaba Mining Show was led by ERG Africa’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr Sergei Verbitckii and representatives from its Boss Mining, COMIDE, and Metalkol entities.

Mr Verbitckii expressed his support for the Lualaba Mining Show, stating, “We take great pride in participating in this exhibition, an event that highlights the indispensable role of the mining industry in driving economic growth in the region.

ERG Africa is deeply committed to the sustainable development of Lualaba Province through our operations. As a business, we recognise the transformative potential of mining, not only in terms of economic prosperity, but also in social development.

We focus on job creation, investments in education, infrastructure and skills development reflects our dedication to fostering a strong and thriving middle class in the province.”
