Félix Tshisekedi promises urgent solutions to Miba and Sacim

In his speech delivered on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, upon his arrival in Mbuji-Mayi, as part of his electoral campaign, the President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, expressed his commitment to personally invest in finding urgent solutions concerning the Bakwanga Mining Company (Miba) and the Anhui Congo Mining Investment Company (Sacim Sarl).

” The problem of Sacim and Miba, let me take care of it. I promise you more jobs, food self-sufficiency, more purchasing power and I will put an end to economic instability,” said President Félix Tshisekedi.

The economic lung of Greater Kasai, Miba is in a precarious situation in all its aspects. On Thursday, September 28, 2023, during the official ceremony of taking office of the new management committee, the Chairman of the Board of Directors declared: ” Miba is still recoverable with this committee.

He thus counted on three major assets of this state enterprise, namely “its staff who have long experience in diamond exploitation, its varied geological resources and the clearly political will displayed by the Head of State, determined to see this society regain its letters of nobility.

As for Sacim SARL, the second mining company after the struggling Miba, no longer mines diamonds due to lack of supplies of processing inputs.

Now obliged to sell its parcels of diamonds to buyers chosen by the Ministry of Mines, this Chinese company currently sells up to 13,000 USD per carat when its cost price is higher than this price.

Addressing the rise in the price of corn, the president promised to visit the market to inquire about the situation before resuming his flight to central Kasai. On the Mbuji-Mayi market, the National Service lowered the price of corn, from 12,000 to 4,150 Congolese francs per scoop, due to the production of Kanyama Kasese.
