TFM Highlights Role in Driving DRC’s Industrial Growth at KBM 2024

Tenke Fungurume Mining (TFM) played a significant role at the 2024 Katanga Business Meeting (KBM), themed “Investing in industrial centers for a new dynamic of growth in the DRC.”

The event, held in Kolwezi from May 3 to 4, brought together various companies to discuss strategies for stimulating the Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC) economy.

TFM actively participated in KBM 2024, with key experts contributing to panels focusing on diverse topics such as the emergence of a mining industrial cluster, professional training, job creation, and special economic zones.

Hugo Sinza, Director of External Relations, emphasized the importance of diversifying the economy around mines to foster entrepreneurship and advocated for preferential taxation for budding businesses.

Human Resources Director, Ivan Kalonda, highlighted TFM’s initiatives aimed at empowering youth and making them employable, spanning from secondary school to university education and vocational training centers.

Edouard Swana from Community Relations discussed the operationalization of special economic zones, drawing examples from successful models in China and Gabon.

He also showcased TFM’s social responsibility projects, including collaborations with organizations like Agriterra and the acquisition of the copper mark, a unique distinction for an African mining company.

In addition to participating in panels, TFM showcased its achievements at an exhibition stand, attracting visitors interested in business opportunities and seeking information about the company’s operations.

TFM’s consistent participation in KBM reflects its commitment to driving industrial growth and socio-economic development in the Greater Katanga region and beyond.
