Firering Advances Quicklime Production at Zambia’s Limeco Project

AIM-listed Firering Strategic Minerals has announced notable progress in the commercial ramp-up of its Limeco quicklime project in Zambia.

The project is strategically positioned to become a key supplier of high-quality quicklime (calcium oxide – CaO) to the growing copper production sector in the Central African Copperbelt.

The company confirmed that it has successfully produced commercial-grade quicklime, setting the stage for its first sales.

Optimisation of Kiln 1 is ongoing, with daily output now exceeding 50 tonnes and steadily increasing.

Firering CEO Yuval Cohen noted that although the ramp-up is slightly behind schedule, the experience gained will benefit the commissioning of the remaining seven kilns.

He added that strong interest from major mining companies and traders signals positive momentum, with initial sales expected in the coming weeks.

The project’s phased strategy aims to scale production to between 600 and 800 tonnes of quicklime per day by the first quarter of 2026.

Laboratory tests confirm that the quicklime consistently exceeds 90% CaO purity—well above the 80% benchmark typically required for metallurgical applications.

Commercial-grade samples have already been sent to copper producers and traders.

Details on pricing and customers will remain confidential unless required for regulatory disclosure.
